2017 Course Map & Information

TIMELINE: The Navy-Air Force Half Marathon and Navy 5 Miler adheres to a strict timeline for the start, on-course, and finish times of the event. The official race clock will be tracked by race officials. Announcements will be made as time nears the closing of the starting chutes. If you miss the start of your wave, you will not be allowed to start until the next wave. Half marathon participants who miss the half marathon start may join the 5-miler participants. It is the participant’s responsibility to be at the start of their wave. No refunds will be issued for missing the start.

Start:

7:00 AM               National Anthem and Opening Remarks

7:05 AM               Half Marathon wheelchair and wounded warrior participants start

7:08 AM               Half Marathon runners wave 1 (yellow bibs) start

7:13 AM               Half Marathon runners wave 2 (red, yellow bibs) start

7:20 AM               Half Marathon starting chute closes; 5-Miler line-up begins

7:40 AM               5-Miler wounded warrior participants start

7:45 AM               5-Miler runners (blue, red, yellow bibs) start

7:50 AM               5-Miler starting chute closes to prepare the finish line
 

On-Course:

8:45 AM               All runners get turned just before Inlet Bridge to complete 5-mile course (HM @ 4.75 mi)

9:45 AM               Runners who have not reached half marathon mile #9 (Rock Creek Parkway U-Turn) must board the SAG vehicle

10:00 AM             Runners who have not reached half marathon mile #10 must board the SAG vehicle

10:15 AM             Runners who have not reached half marathon mile #11 must board the SAG vehicle

10:30 AM             Runners who have not reached half marathon mile #12 must board the SAG vehicle
 

Finish Line:

10:45 AM             Runners must complete the course. Timing and scoring ends.

  • Mile Markers: Located at every mile along the course. Half Marathon mile markers will be red, 5-Miler mile markers will be blue.

  • Finish Line: The race course will split before you reach the finish line. Half marathon runners are to stay to their left and 5 miler runners to their right.
     
  • First Aid/Medical: Start, Finish, and along the course provided by LifeStar Response and GW MFA Event Medical Staffing. We request all runners to write an emergency contact and phone number on the back of your bib incase a medical emergency occurs.
     
  • Help keep our National Parks clean! Please hold on to your gel and energy pack trash until you can dispose of it in designated receptacles.
